Wine & Cuisine With The Boys pt. 2
March 15, 2024
Liam McBride, Alex Bruckner, Matt Nolan, Alex Price, Stratis Bohle, Nico Bohle
Wine 1 4/5
Wine 2 0/5
Wine 3 2/5
Our first meal was Chicken Tikki Masala prepared by Chef McBride. The curry was amazing. It was floral with a little spice, Nico described it as spicy and rich tomato sauce. The wine was a Chenin Blanc called Pine Ridge. This wine a little dry and I tasted fruits such as apple and lime. I also thought I could taste a little Jalapeno, but no one agreed with me. Together the wine was sharpened and the food softened. It paired very well.
Never buy 7/11 wine (thought it was obvious)
Our second meal was burgers prepared by Chef Nolan. The burgers are lean and grided by me and my dad, the meat from Costco. I put pickles, barbeque and peper-jack on my burger. The sweetness of the pickles and the richness of the barbeque was very good. Sadly, the wine was straight up horrible. It was a Yosemite Road Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine was very sweet and I could taste wet tobacco, and 3 day old coffee. It was also earthy in all the wrong ways. The wine did nothing to the food and vice-versa.
Final meal :(
Our third and final meal Brownies prepared by Chef Nolan. They were sweet and rich. The wine we had was Merlot from Josh Cellars. The wine was dry and dark and had some spice at the end. The wine was bland like many other Josh wines and I was not a very big fan. Also, "anything but Merlot". Anyways, I didnt get much from pairing the two. It made the wine a little sweeter but overall, they did not pair well, but did not clash.
